I'll start by saying, I love an open automobile. I've owned not one, but two Sebring convertibles, a vehicle that's held in open contempt by auto "enthusiasts" (for a lot of good reasons), and enjoyed them for their core "touring" competencies.
So when the Murano CrossCabriolet was announced in 2011, I was in the optimistic camp, and I'll admit I was slightly puzzled by the level of derision heaped on this beast from the very start. Was it really so ugly?
Well this afternoon I had the privilege of seeing one of these odd ducks in the wild, and I'm here to tell you, I totally "get it" now. It's just so... awkward.

I've seen at least a dozen, and I don't even live in Florida.
They're all driven by sorority girls. All of them.

I've seen a few (one is too many). Typically driven by middle-aged women with more money than sense, and not one of them that I've cared to notice has been less than very overweight. Maybe they appeal.to those that don't want to have to sit down into and get up out of a typical convertible?
The header shot made it look like a 370z convertible at an oddly high angle, then I remembered these stupid things. How the same company that makes the GT-R also makes this and the Cube is beyond me.

Agreed, when I look at the pic I think if it were 40% smaller- and a roadster (didn't initially make the 370 connnection, but yeah)- they might have something there... but considering I'm in a stock-height Civic, the thing is just LOOMING over me. That's what was so strikingly odd.

Funny you mention FLA- are you in one of the other "top States"?
Bear in mind that this chart is 2 years old (though sales have only dropped over time, so even worse now.)
But it actually makes sense that the CC would seem attractive to the "non-enthusiast-money-is-no-object-parents-of-a-graduating-high-school-girl" demo.
